Nolan linked with shock move

Queens Park Rangers are being linked with a surprise move for West Ham midfielder Kevin Nolan.

Rangers have already swooped on Upton Park this summer when signing goalkeeper Robert Green on a free transfer and reports now claim that Nolan could follow him.
The Hammers midfielder is tied to a bumper long-term deal at the club but rumours are suggesting the R’s will offer him even more in an attempt to lure him to Loftus Road.
It remains to be seen if Nolan would be interested in a move to QPR, while Sam Allardyce will be very reluctant to let him go and is likely to knock back any bids from Mark Hughes.
However that is not stopping the rumour mill which suggests an offer is in the pipeline.

Seedorf snubs Irons for Brazil

Seedorf: Moving to Botafogo

Seedorf: Moving to Botafogo

Former Holland midfielder Clarence Seedorf has joined Brazilian side Botafogo on a two-year-deal after reportedly snubbing a move to West Ham.

The Surinam-born 36-year-old, who ended a 10-year stint at AC Milan this summer and had reportedly been interesting the Premier League new boys, has been given what Botafogo claim is the most lucrative deal ever handed out to a foreign player in Brazil.

The club announced the deal in a statement which read: “Botafogo have formalised a contract with the Dutch midfielder Clarence Seedorf, who is 36.

“Seedorf has signed a deal for two years with Botafogo.”

It went on: “It is the biggest contract for a foreigner made by a Brazilian football club.”

Rio de Janeiro-based Botafogo sit eighth in the Campeonato Brasileiro with three wins from six matches.

West Ham have re-signed George McCartney from Sunderland on the back of his successful loan spell at Upton Park last season.

McCartney, 31, has signed a two-year contract with the Hammers, returning to the club for a third time having played for them between 2006 and 2008, and then on a short-term deal in 2011-12.

“I am delighted to be coming back to West Ham and this time on a permanent basis,” McCartney said. “It was great to be part of the side that won promotion for the club last season.

“It was a fantastic way to end the campaign last year and I am really looking forward to being back in the Premier League with West Ham.”

The Northern Ireland defender, who won West Ham’s Players’ Player of the Year award last season for the part he played in the club regaining their top-flight status, becomes Sam Allardyce’s fourth summer signing after the arrivals of Jussi Jaaskelainen, Stephen Henderson and Mohamed Diame from Bolton, Portsmouth and Wigan respectively.
